Nature of dynamic processes associated with the [S.sub.N]1 reaction mechanism
Article Abstract:
The advances in understanding of the basic nature of the molecular processes that are associated with the [S.sub.N]1 reaction mechanism are discussed. It shows how the solvent mediates the dynamics of covalent bond formation and dynamics of ion pairs and also development of new theoretical models for the electronic structures.

Surface chemistry of transition metal carbides
Article Abstract:
The electronic and chemical properties of well-characterized transition metal carbides (TMCs) are described. Further studies on the synergistic effect by depositing submonolayer Pt-group metals on TMC surfaces will identify the possibility of using TMCs as catalyst supports for catalytic and electrocatalytic applications.
